History Walk and Talk Tour

Sundays, May 20 & June 17 | 2-4 p.m. | $5; $15 for groups of four | Ages 5 & up

Exercise body and mind during our Summer Walk and Talks. Hear historic insights about Kansas City, and enjoy a nice summer stroll through the historic Columbus Park and Ward Parkway neighborhoods.

Hosted by Michael Bushnell, author, Historic Postcards from Old Kansas City

Explore Kansas City’s “Little Italy,” Columbus Park, with Northeast KC historian Michael Bushnell. Tour members will stroll past the storied Holy Rosary Parish, the Vacarro Soda Bottling Company and learn a little Kansas City mafia lore. Advance registration required click to RSVP

 

Ward Parkway

Sunday, June 17 | Meet at 55th and Ward Parkway

Hosted by Jonathan Rand, secretary, Ward Parkway Homes Association and former Kansas City Star reporter

Walk along the streets of Kansas City’s rich-and-famous and see multi-million dollar homes along Ward Parkway, including the French provincial mansion home of Kansas City political boss Tom Pendergast. Ward Parkway Homes Association secretary and former Kansas City Star reporter Jonathan Rand, will introduce you to the wide boulevards and green spaces that define the “City Beautiful” movement that produced Ward Parkway.
